La Scala History

1964 – La Scala Printing Company was founded by Anthony (Tony) Scala, in Pasadena, CA. Tony was sole operator of presswork, sales and marketing, all from his garage.
 
1968 – Moved to commercial building on East Colorado Boulevard – Pasadena, CA.
 
1974 – Dorothy Scala joined Tony assisting with shipping, bookkeeping and customer service.  Business relocated to Altadena, CA.
 
1978 – Larger quarters were needed as business expanded and a move to West Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, CA became La Scala Printing's newest home. We expanded and purchased steel die engraving equipment and additional offset presses.
 
1979 – Incorporation – became La Scala Printing, Inc.
           
1980 – The purchase of a commercial building in Monrovia, CA was a dream realized. Son Paul moved his family from Arizona to join the team, adding valuable printing and management experience. Computerized typesetting equipment purchased. Company expanded to 6 employees.
 
1984 – Awarded honors for 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Letterhead
 
1985 - Son Robert returning from U. S. Army joined the team as a Press Operator.
 
1986 – Awarded Printing Industries Executive Development Scholarship
 
1987 – Daughter Toni Leigh joined the family team as Office Manager.
 
1993 – Awarded Toyota Motor Sales, USA NAWBO-LA Education Award
            Paul Scala became President and Chief Operating Officer.
 
1998 - Relocation to larger quarters in Irwindale, CA – Purchased larger location, Press, and expanded business to include warehouse and distribution services.
 
1999 - Business opportunities in the Inland Empire prompted a move to Upland,CA
 
2003 - Paul's Son-in-law Howard joined the family team and is General Manager.
 
2004 - Paul's daughters Rilla (press operator) and Falecia (sales) joined the family team. Justin and Jeff also added to the team!

2008 - New website launched. The addition of graphic design services added.
 
Over forty-three years family owned and operated.
